Band

Director: Mr. Nick Ciasullo

6th Grade Band

  • This group is made up of 6th grade students who play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. If you are entering the 6th grade, have not yet played an instrument, and you are interested in joining this group, please speak to Mr. Ciasullo. This group meets all year long and performs in both the Winter and Spring Concerts as well as various other events and competitions.

7th and 8th Grade Bands

  • These groups are made up of 7th and 8th grade students who play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. These groups meet all year long and perform in both the Winter and Spring Concerts as well as various other events and competitions. Contact Mr. Ciasullo for more information and special circumstances.

Honors Band

This group is made of select students who are members of the 7th and 8th grade bands.This group is focused on performing additional and more advanced music. Honors band performs at our Winter and Spring Concerts as well as additional performance opportunities throughout the school year. Interested students should contact Mr. Ciasullo for more information.

Jazz Band

This group is an after school club for students interested in learning to play jazz, blues, Latin, pop/rock fusion, and other similar styles of music. Students will learn basics of performing these genres, how to improvise, and create arrangements together as a group. Any student is welcome to join as long as they have been playing at least two years or have the equal skill. Sign-up will be in the fall and meetings are once a week after school. 

HOW TO JOIN

  • All students are invited to be a part of instrumental music at Washington Middle School. It is important to sign up for band during the end of your 5th grade year (if you are currently in elementary school), or at the very beginning of the school year in grades 6 through 8. If you are interested in joining the band, it is strongly recommend that you email the director to be sure you are on his/her roster. Contact the director with any questions you may have.
