Programs

The Meriden Public School District is home to a diverse array of performing ensembles. Our students begin general music instruction in kindergarten. Instrumental music instruction is available beginning in fourth grade.

In this section of the website, you will find a listing of our major performing ensembles at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Each of these groups maintain a performance schedule, which can be found within the district calendar of this website.

It is the philosophy of the Meriden Public Schools that every student is entitled to an arts education. While music is offered to all students in grades K-8, ensembles are elective-based. The groups listed here are always growing and developing and are always in search of new members. Interested students should strongly consider joining one or more of these great ensembles and explore the many benefits and excitement of an arts education.

  • The Meriden Public Schools believes that students should be encouraged to explore their interests and immerse themselves in a variety of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. We encourage students to be involved in sports, clubs and other school activities, in addition to the performing arts. While some scheduling conflicts will arise, we make every effort to work with students whenever possible to allow them to remain involved in all areas of interest they wish to pursue.
