District Art Department Overview

The Meriden Public Schools Art Department is comprised of nineteen music teachers servicing students in grades K-12. All students currently receive the following arts education:

Grades K-5

  • All students in Grades K-5 receive weekly art classes with a certified art teacher

Grades 6-8

  • All students in Grades 6-8 receive art instruction 1-2 time each week along with periodic art enrichment classes
  • Students are exposed to diverse mediums including introductions to three-dimensional forms, ceramics and more.

Grades 9-12

  • Art at the High School level is elective-based. However, there is a one-credit arts requirement for graduation
